Scoliosis
Skeletal System
Scoliosis is a lateral deviation of the spine combined with vertebral rotation, giving the spine a C or S shape when viewed from behind; clinically it is defined as a curve of more than 10 degrees on X-ray, measured by the Cobb angle.
The word comes from the Greek skolios, meaning “crooked”.
