Sarcopenia
Muscular System
Sarcopenia is the progressive, generalised loss of skeletal muscle mass, strength, and function with ageing, which increases the risk of falls, fractures, disability, and death.
The word comes from the Greek sarx, meaning “flesh”, and penia, meaning “poverty” or “loss”.
