Sacral Plexus
Nervous System & Special Senses
The sacral plexus is a network of the ventral rami of spinal nerves L4–S4 that forms on the posterior wall of the pelvis, in front of the piriformis muscle, and supplies the buttock, back of the thigh, almost all of the leg and foot, and the pelvic floor.
Link with the Lumbar Plexus
The L4 and L5 roots join the sacral plexus via the lumbosacral trunk; the two plexuses are sometimes called together the “lumbosacral plexus”.
