Extensor Carpi Ulnaris
Muscular System
The extensor carpi ulnaris (ECU) is a superficial muscle on the medial side of the back of the forearm that extends the wrist and deviates it towards the little finger.
Attachments and Innervation
- Origin: the lateral epicondyle of the humerus (common extensor tendon) and posterior border of the ulna.
- Insertion: the base of the fifth metacarpal; its tendon runs in a dedicated groove on the ulna within a fibrous sheath.
- Nerve: the posterior interosseous nerve (C7 and C8).
