Condyloid Joint
Skeletal System
A condyloid (ellipsoid) joint is a biaxial synovial joint in which an oval convex surface fits into an oval concave socket, allowing movement in two planes.
Movements
- Flexion and extension.
- Abduction and adduction (at the wrist: radial and ulnar deviation).
- Circumduction: a combination of the above.
True rotation about the long axis is not possible in this joint.
