Pronation
The Human Body & Basic Concepts
Pronation of the forearm is a movement in which the palm turns from facing forward or upward to facing backward or downward; in this movement the radius rotates around the ulna, and the two bones cross.
It takes place at the proximal and distal radioulnar joints around the longitudinal axis of the forearm.
Main Muscles
The pronator teres and pronator quadratus are the main pronators, and the brachioradialis assists in some positions.
Pronation in the Foot
In the foot, pronation is a combined three-dimensional movement of eversion, abduction, and dorsiflexion
